Sustainable development goals (SDGs)
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) help organizations to implement sustainability. The SDGs are 17 goals to make the world a better place by 2030. The goals were drawn up by the countries that are members of the United Nations. This includes goals on themes such as poverty, education and the climate crisis.
The seventeen sustainable development goals (SDGs) that the United Nations established in 2015 have generated a lot of enthusiasm. Companies and organizations are prepared to contribute to solving global problems such as poverty, inequality and climate change. They want to (e.g.) become more sustainable!
SDGs versus ISO standards
Many organizations are already working on sustainability on various fronts, for example through ISO 14001, ISO 50001, the CO2 Performance Ladder or CSR Performance Ladder. From all these standards the link can be made to the SDGs. This link brings the systems together, it indicates what the organization is doing in the bigger picture, where the development is and what the organization is already doing well. This way you can also start a conversation, on the work floor, but also at the boardroom table. “How do we want to come across as a company, what do we want to show and how do we bring all our sustainability initiatives together in a good, understandable way?”
Our approach
Because every organization is different, it is wise to focus on the SDGs on which you can make the most impact. But which ones are they? How do you translate this into your strategy so that you actually deliver impact? How do you measure progress and how do you report on it to the outside world? Our consultants will work with you to determine which goals are most relevant to your organization and which actions you can take. We can make a link with the SDGs in any desired process. It is also possible to schedule a separate SDG strategy session with one of our consultants.
